Here are the final scores. I will round your score to the nearest whole integer. Do not ask for an improvement in your grade for anything other than a mistake on the calculations.

I enjoyed the classes very much and was pleased that there were so many involved and active students. This was one of the most enjoyable semesters I have had in teaching. I wish you the best in all your pursuits. I welcome you keeping in touch and letting me know about your lives.

Sincerely,

Charles

The total organizational environment, including social, economic, ethical, political and technological influences. Analyses of the basic organizational functions to aid in development of administrative controls. A capstone offering for the business major. This is a vigorous and demanding course. Because this is a capstone course, you should already have a thorough understanding of management, accounting, finance, economics, marketing, and human resource management. Organizational Strategy brings together all the concepts of business that you have studied in pursuit of your degree. Expect to spend at least two hours of study for every hour of classroom activity. Upon the successful completion of my course, you will not only be able to evaluate businesses as potential investments, but you will have the knowledge to intelligently evaluate opportunities for starting your own business or evaluating the potential of any business you wish to join.

The exams will be multiple choice. The final exam will be comprehensive.

Schedule:
The class will proceed at whatever pace is necessary to cover the material thoroughly. The only two dates that are firmly scheduled are the Midterm (Wednesday, June 25th) and the comprehensive Final Exam (Wednesday, July 16th).

Preparation:
In order to do well in this class, you must arrive prepared. Study at least two chapters ahead of wherever we are in class. After the lectures, review the chapters again to reinforce the ideas.

Download the lecture notes (475 KB) given to me by the textbook publisher. I give them to you to help you study. Inevitably someone complains about the length of the notes as they have additional examples and talking points. Feel free to trim the notes down to a manageable size. But please, don’t whine when someone gives you something.

Visit the publisher’s site for PowerPoint slides, sample quiz questions, and much more.

UTA Policies and Procedures

No Food in Class

Dishonesty

If you cheat (including plagiarism), you will receive an “F” for the course and I will recommend that you be

expelled from the University.

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA):

If you are a student who requires accommodations in compliance with the ADA, please consult with me in the first week of class. Faculty members are required by law to provide “reasonable accommodation” to students with disabilities, so as not to discriminate on the basis of that disability. Your responsibility is to inform me of the disability in the first week and provide documentation authorizing the specific accommodation. Student services at UTA include the Office for Students with Disabilities (located in the lower level of the University Center) which is responsible for verifying and implementing accommodations to ensure equal opportunity in all programs and activities.

Evacuation Procedures

In the event of an evacuation of the College of Business building, when the fire alarm sounds, everyone must leave the building by the stairs. With the fire alarm system we now have, the elevators will all go to the first floor and stay there until the system is turned off. All those in the North tower side of the building should proceed to the fire escape stairs located on the East and West sides of that wing. FOR DISABLED PERSONS…..please go to the Northeast fire stairs. We have an evacutrack chair located on the 6th floor stairwell. We have people trained in the use of this chair and there will be someone that will go to the 6th floor to get the chair and bring it to any lower floor stairwell to assist disabled persons. Should this be a real emergency, the Arlington Fire Department and UTA Police will also be here to help.

Student Support Services:

The University supports a variety of student success programs to help you connect with the University and achieve academic success. They include learning assistance, developmental education, advising and mentoring, admission and transition, and federally funded programs. Students requiring assistance academically, personally, or socially should contact the Office of Student Success Programs at 817-272-6107 for more information and appropriate referrals.

Academic Dishonesty Policy:

Academic dishonesty is a completely unacceptable mode of conduct and will not be tolerated in any form at The University of Texas at Arlington. All persons involved in academic dishonesty will be disciplined in accordance with University regulations and procedures. Discipline may include suspension or expulsion from the University.

“Academic dishonesty includes, but is not limited to, cheating, plagiarism, collusion, the submission for credit of any work or materials that are attributable in whole or in part to another person, taking an examination for another person, any act designed to give unfair advantage to a student or the attempt to commit such acts.” (Regents’ Rules and Regulations, Part One, Chapter VI, Section 3, Subsection 3.2., Subdivision 3.22).

Bomb Threat Policy:

Effective April 8, 1996, the College of Business Administration has adopted a policy to deal with the classroom disruption caused by bomb threats in the building. If anyone is tempted to call in a bomb threat, be aware that UTA will attempt to trace the phone call and prosecute all responsible parties. Every effort will be made to avoid cancellation of  presentations/tests caused by bomb threats. Unannounced alternate sites will be available for these classes. I will make you aware of alternate class sites in the event that our classroom is not available.

Attendance Policy:

Students are expected to attend each class, and students are expected to come to each class with their assignments completed. Students who must miss a class are responsible for securing any and all coursework missed.

Drop Policies:

It is the student’s responsibility to complete the course or withdraw from the course in accordance with University Regulations. Students are strongly encouraged to verify their grade status before dropping a course after the first withdrawal date. A student who drops a course after the first withdrawal date may receive an “F” in the course if the student if failing at the time the course is dropped.

Tuition Payment Policy:

Students who have not paid by the census date and are dropped for non-payment cannot receive a grade for the course under any circumstances. Therefore, a student dropped for non-payment who continues to attend the course will not receive a grade for the course. Emergency loans are available to help students pay tuition and fees. Students can apply for emergency loans by going to the Emergency Tuition Loan Distribution Center at the E. H. Hereford University Center (near the southwest entrance).
